Prize Draw: 1 x pair of Complimentary Tickets to Cake International
“For a second year in a row, Cake International will join forces with Sewing for Pleasure, Fashion & Embroidery and Hobbycrafts at the NEC, Birmingham for the last three days of the shows from 17 to 19 March 2017. Over 30,000 visitors are expected to attend to see over 200 top craft and cake exhibitors, and a host of exciting competition pieces, features and experts as well as inspiring catwalk shows.
Last autumn’s show saw cake artist Daniel Diéguez unveil a striking, large-scale live feature made from 100% chocolate. This spring showgoers will be able to watch Daniel and guest artist Calli Hopper performs ‘live art’ as they create another piece of ‘Chocolate Magic’.
Calli Hopper will also be taking part in the Demonstration Theatre alongside some of the greatest international and UK sugarcrafting, cake decorating and baking talents. Natalie Porter, Rhianydd Webb and Karen Keaney will be demonstrating alongside Calli over the weekend.
Cake artist, Rhianydd Webb, who unveiled the amazing ‘Magic Faraway Tree’ feature last November complete with life-sized characters, is returning to Cake International to showcase her latest jaw-dropping project, Spiderwick Field Guide. This amazing hand-created feature is based on the book, Arthurs Spiderwick’s Field Guide to the Fantastical World Around You by Tony Di Terlizzi & & Holly Black (Simon & Schuster, New York).
This spring will also see award-winning cake artist, Dot Klerck in attendance as the International Guest for March. Dot, originally from South Africa, started by perfecting her skills in art school before teaching herself the art of cake decoration. She has featured in magazines across the globe, including USA, Portugal, Australia and South Africa and runs classes in sugarcraft while making cakes between classes.
As well as immersing themselves in sugarcraft paradise, visitors can discover the latest innovations and gorgeous materials for sewing, knitting and quilting, to papercraft and jewellery making at Sewing for Pleasure, Fashion & Embroidery and Hobbycrafts and get hands-on with daily free programmes of workshops, talks and demonstrations.
Please note: Cake International is open from Friday 17 – Sunday 19 March 2016 only. Visitors will be able to attend Cake International on the Friday, Saturday or Sunday.
With four great shows for the price of one, there is something for everyone at Sewing for Pleasure, Fashion & Embroidery and Hobbycrafts from 16 – 20 March and Cake International from 17 – 20 March this spring.”
